  • Pilum Kit

Quartermaster Pilum Kit, a complete kit ready to assemble. Takes about 15 minutes.

    What you get...
    Wood Shaft.
A wood shaft, oak or ash, with a pyramidal head, two or three predrilled holes for the metal pins and a slot for the pilum tang. This is all from one piece of wood, not two or three pieces pegged or glued together. The wood shaft is approximately 48" X 1.25". Shorter wood shafts are available upon request, no extra charge. The shaft is shaped with a lathe, drawknife, spoke shave and plain. It's ready for you to finish as desired.

    Metal Shaft
A steel shaft with a triangular tang with two or three rivet holes. The shaft tapers to an elongated pyramidal point. Metal work is done by hand and hammering marks appear along the shaft to give it that hand forged look. Neither the triangular tip nor the tang are welded on. This is one piece of metal. The shaft is approx 3/16" X 32" - 36". The metal shaft is HR steel square stock heated over a forge with wood charcoal. It's annealed to soften the shaft.

The Kit also comes with a metal collette, metal wedges, metal rivets with "washers", an attached butt spike, and a finger loop

    Price $70 for one.
